I want to offer you a question to be with.
What do I want to create?
It is a simple question, but I want you to consider how often you move into a conversation, a meeting, a decision, or a season of your life without being clear about what you are looking to create. You may be working hard. You may be giving a lot of energy. You may be moving fast. But toward what?
In the course, I told the story about my boat. It had a great engine, plenty of power, and it could move a lot of water. But when the rudder was gone, it just went in circles. It could make a lot of noise. It just could not go anywhere.
That is what power without intention can look like.
You can have talent, resources, experience, and a full calendar. You can have people depending on you and a lot of things that need to get done. But if you are not clear about what you intend to create, you may be using a great deal of power to create something you do not actually want.
So here is the work. Where are you clear about your intention, and where are you not? Where are you generating a lot of energy but have not stopped long enough to ask, “What do I want to have happen here?”
Maybe it is in a relationship. Maybe it is with someone on your team. Maybe it is in the way you are approaching the next six months.
Get clear. Your intention is what directs your power.
We are holding another Create Powerful Course September 8–12. If there is someone in your life, on your team, or in your family who would benefit from getting clear about what they are creating, invite them into the conversation. Learn more and register at ontocore.com/createpowerful.
